Consulting Lead: Health Economic Modeller
We work in the messy world of health and data, and your job is to explore and uncover the real question to deliver meaningful health economic evidence – evidence that will drive the right decisions.
We usually respond within two weeks
You will be leading clients to cut through ambiguity, inspiring teams to think better and achieve the highest quality results, and use sound judgement in an ever-changing healthcare landscape - without diluting scientific integrity.
As a Consulting Lead, you will relish tackling problems that are often poorly framed at the start and that may shift as the work unfolds. Your job is to help clients get from “we think we want X” (if they know even that much!) to a clearly articulated decision-question, then design and lead an evidence programme that answers and communicates it with scientific credibility. You will then be giving them what they need and what truly moves the dial – either for internal strategic decisions or to inform external stakeholders.
Day to day, you will shape briefs into proposals, design the analytical approach, and run project delivery (usually technical and management) across multiple disease and clinical areas. You will defend the right level of rigour (assumptions, methods, uncertainty, quality control) while also relishing the challenges of working with the social and human realities that influence the work: aligning stakeholders, managing change, and keeping momentum when priorities move.
You will succeed in this role if you are someone who:
Builds trust quickly with senior clients, gets to know them as a person, and can challenge constructively as a true thought partner.
Designs and runs evidence generation projects that stand up to scrutiny & peer review.
Leads delivery with clarity (scope, pace, quality) and a deft touch.
Inspires in others their own leadership skills, as well as guiding their technical development by setting direction, delegating well, and giving detailed feedback.
Communicates complex work and evidence in a way that enables decisions, not just understanding.
Is driven to make Aquarius an even better place to work tomorrow than it is today.
Who we are looking for
We’re looking for someone who has built their experience within a consultancy or professional services environment and is confident in not just managing (projects, people, clients), but in also exercising and demonstrating the leadership qualities required for a team that’s navigating complex, technical projects across diverse healthcare evidence challenges. You will bring strong analytical capability, sector insight, and the ability to shape evidence‑based solutions that influence healthcare decisions.
A PhD/MSc (or BSc/BA with equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Economics/Health Economics, Data Science/Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Policy, Mathematics or a similar discipline – or you have equivalent evidenced experience in one of these areas.
Experience delivering healthcare research, analysis and synthesis across disease areas or clinical contexts.
Strong technical delivery skills, paired with project-leadership experience that reflects the value a diverse background and cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural training can bring.
Strong experience of health economic modelling and analysis to support decision making.
Expertise in statistical software such as Stata, R, and/or SAS. Proficiency in Excel is essential.
A willingness to take on the challenge of delivering for large global commercial clients, as well as SMEs, academic research teams, and charities.
Adaptable and flexible thinking, with the ability to respond effectively to the change and uncertainty inherent in consultancy work.
Ability and enthusiasm to tackle health-related problems across diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, health interventions, healthcare policy, or guideline development.
Strong client relationship skills with the ability to sensitively identify and interpret a client’s individual needs, wants and worries. An ability to influence, guide, and collaborate with senior stakeholders – desire to be their “trusted adviser and thought partner” across our clients’ problems.
Clear and thoughtful communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, compelling messages.A consistent role‑model of positive behaviours – bringing integrity, maturity and a collaborative approach that supports strong team culture and project outcomes.
A growth mindset, with the desire to learn, improve, and help others develop.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams, maintain high standards under pressure and contribute to a positive, solutions‑focused team environment.
Experience line managing and supporting junior colleagues, with a track record in building capability across teams.
Excellent command of the English language at CEFR level C2 or equivalent, in order to draft complex reports, interpret technical documents, and communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders.
